Making sense of noise

Noise measurement
Measurement of noise is not easy.  We have the experience and equipment to measure the noise in a workplace or outside premises, advise on whether there is a problem and suggest the correct action.

Responding to complaints
Householders can complain to their local Council if they feel they are being unduly disturbed by noise from your business. The Council will investigate, and ask you to do something about the noise if they feel it’s too much.
First, we can measure the noise and see how valid the complaint might be.  Then we can mediate with the Council on your behalf, and advise you on how to reduce any problem noise.

Planning applications
Planners might be concerned by cooling systems, additional traffic or new processes. We can measure the existing level of noise to determine the background, assess what additional noise might be created by your development and prepare plans for keeping noise to acceptable levels.  This will often be required as part of the planning application, followed by negotiation to get agreement. We have a good track record of putting the right case and getting the right result.

Entertainment licences
Local councils always ask applicants for liquor or entertainment licences how they propose to prevent nuisance from being caused (by music, customers leaving, etc.). We can carry out a survey and suggest remedial action as for planning applications. We can also help you respond to any subsequent complaints.

Whether you have a problem right now or want to avoid one in the future, please call for advice.
