Construction Safety; why pick this out as a particular work activity? Two reasons;

1. Asbestos; why important and what we can do to help

WHY IMPORTANT? I think we've all heard of the hazards of asbestos; there are still around 4000 people a year dying from asbestos related disease. Unlike other hazardous dusts, in theory there is no safe lower limits of exposure.

WHAT MUST I DO AS AN EMPLOYER ?

a. Ensure you know where asbestos is, or likely to be located in buildings you occupy.

b. Once you know this, you can manage it accordingly and make sure no-one damages or interferes with it to make a breathable dust.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP?

We are highly qualified (having undertaken the HSE's in-house asbestos identification and management course) and highly experienced in asbestos surveying, and in advising clients on the most appropriate management plan to protect people.

2. The CDM Regulations; "CDM Co-ordinator" and what we can do to help

CDM CO-ORDINATOR; this role is required for construction projects over a certian size. We can provide this service for smaller construction projects.

The role recognises the particular complexitites of construction managament due to the number of potential parties involved, and how lack of communication, co-ordination, etc. can lead to accidents.
